DJ HERO FINALLY UNVEILED!

After 14 months of blood, sweat and tears I finally have something to show as Activision finally unveil our game to the public. Great fun to work on, found myself humming some cool (and some not so cool!) tracks all day long. Be interesting to see what is made of it, come E3 next week.

GUITAR HERO

Following last week's announcement that we're now part of Activision Blizzard, I can now mention that as well as our main, so far 'unannounced title', I'm working on animation stuff for Guitar Hero 3 and the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour (with Drums and everything!).

It's probably my favourite game at the moment, so its a joy to actually work on it. I get to know in advance what songs are coming up too, but I'll keep that bit to myself - More than my job's worth! ;)

Sorry for the lack of posts recently....A couple of key things have happened since my last visit.
I left Codemasters after over 7 years of service in March of this year, and took up the role of Lead Animator at Freestyle Games, working on some potentially cool stuff which I can't talk to much about just yet.
And to top it off, the company has just been bought out by Activision Blizzard - Meaning we are now in the same family as Neversoft, Infinity Ward and Bizarre Creations! Good times!

Finally found some time to spend on my never ending animation!
All body animation is now pretty much complete - I'm sure there will be a few more tweaks once I've slept on it, but I'm happy with it now.

I'm onto facial animation and lip synching now, so the end is nigh!

Operation Flashpoint 2 - Dragon Rising

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, been busy working on my house.

However, I can finally reveal some 'day job' stuff. Operation Flashpoint 2 has just been unveiled in Leipzig along with a 'debut trailer' which I worked on. I was solely responsible for all camera setup/animation and all animation on characters and vehicles.

Just a quick update...

Finally have a little free time this week, so I'm going to be working on my latest animation most evenings this week. Spent tonight dressing the character and scenery in preparation for hand and facial animation.

Not sure what to do with his tie yet - it will either be a basic skinned rig, or I might take a quick look at cloth in Max if I have time.

Thought I'd keep the blog ticking over. No animation updates yet unfortunately - hoping to get back onto it within the next week, along with tiling my bathroom!

News is a little scarce at the moment, so I'll resort to 'talking shop' for one night only!

In probably the worst kept secret in the world, Codemasters have finally unveiled to the public that we are in full production on Operation Flashpoint 2. I'm working on all things animation, and things are slowly starting to move now, but I can't say any more at the moment due to NDAs and all that.

Broke up from work for a week as I need to spend some quality DIY time on our house over Easter! Here is a preview of the acting piece that I am currently working on.

Still got quite a bit to do on it. Couple of bits of body movement that I want to tweak, then it's onto hands, face and eyes.

Pixar - 20 Years of Animation : Edinburgh

Just warming up to this blogging thing... We recently paid a visit to Edinburgh for my girlfriend Abi's birthday, and we visited the Pixar exhibit at the National Museum of Scotland whilst we were there - mainly to shelter from the galeforce winds!

It was great stuff! There seemed to be additional stuff to the London exhibit - with the most obvious addition being extra Cars stuff, including a maquette of Mater. Woody and Bullseye were missing from the zoetrope when I visited the London exhibit, but they were back in action here! There was also a whole new wall dedicated to Ratatouille art - simply gorgeous!

Anyway, I sneaked a few snapshots of a selection of the maquettes (not very good ones mind!) and thought you might like a peak. Thoroughly recommended if you're visiting Edinburgh in the near future.

Finally getting my blog off the ground. I'm currently in the process of styling it up a bit.

The little guy above, in the header, is a 'Wotbot'. I've resurrected him from my very first 3d project at college many moons ago, so you can imagine I have quite a bit of affection for the lil' fella! I may get around to resurrecting him in a short or something one day.... emphasis on 'ONE DAY'.
